    Unanswered: debugging stored procedures

    Hi all,
    I am new user of oracle and is learning.
    While executing the procedure from the sqlplus it gives errors that procedure is created with copilation errors.
    so how can i debug the procedure step by step?? is this possible??
    Please help.

    Hi,
    After geting the error : procedure created with complilation error.
    You execute QL> SHOW ERRORS
    It list all erros with corresponding Line number

    Its good practice to write sho err after the / of the procedure.
    If you want to debug the error line by line, try using dbms_output.put_line("message"||variable);
    Before executing the stored package, type set serveroutput on at the sql promt to view the output messages...

    If you are looking for a tool which can be used for debugging line-by-line, try alligatorSQL. It can be used for debugging as well as profiling.
    Oracle can do wonders !

    Get a copy of TOAD (can download a free evaluation from quest.com) which has good pl/sql debugging and editing features.
