    Unanswered: Equivalent to graphic datatype

    hi friends,

do anyone know the equivalent datatype in SQL server to 'graphic' datatype in DB2?
For your information, 'graphic' datatype allows to store double-byte character data. The maximum allowed size
for fixed length type is 127 double-byte chars &
for varying length is 16350 double-byte chars

    Appreciate your help.

thanks for the quick reply. i think i'm not clear in my previous mail. I found a datatype named 'graphic' which allows to store double-byte character data. I am using DB2 UDB 8.1. I like to know the equivalent to this in the MSSQL server 2000, since i want to do the migration.

    Re: Equivalent to graphic datatype

    thanks for the help...
    one small correction....
vargraphic can hold 16336 double-byte chars at the max....
but nvarchar can hold only 4000 double-byte chars at the max.....
hence ntext should be used for vargraphic
