    Unanswered: autonumber and cancelled record

    Hi,

if I start a new record then half way through keying it on the form i undo the change why does the autonumber not reset to the original value?

    ie.

    new record 220465 cancelled
    new record now 220466.

    any ideas?

I think that's just the way it is. If you really need to keep your numbers in sequence without skipping over any, you might consider not using autonumber. It's really better to create a unique key that represents something to the table. With autonumber, you could essentially have duplicate records with the exception of the autonumber value.

    Just my thoughts.
