    Lightbulb Unanswered: oracle spatial

    I am using this command to create a spatial index:

    create index k46_idx on k46 (geoloc)
    indextype is mdsys.spatial_index;

    - k46_idx is index name
    - k46 is table name
    - geoloc is geometry column

    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-29879: cannot create multiple domain indexes on a column list using same indextype

    The above error message is appearing, can anybody explain why it is happening and how to rectify it.

    I have gone through the said site and as per the directions I checked to see if a different indextype can be used or if the index can be defined on another column list.

    Since I am using the column of type mdsys.sdo_geometry, we can use only spatial index (index type) on that column.

    Since I want only spatial index to be created, it was not possible to create spatial index on another column. In an oracle spatial database we cant have not more than one mdsys.sdo_geometry data type columns.

    Can somebody help me in this regard..

    A simialr type of index already exists for the column. Confirm the same in mdsys schema, find the metadat table/view and drop index and recreate it. I guess it should work.
