Unanswered: Joins? How do you know which to use?
I have a basic question about the difference between the inner, outer, left, right and then the various combinations of them. What do they mean and how do you know which one you need?
Any insight would be appreciated.
An inner joins returns only those records where a record exists in both tables.
A left outer join returns all of the records from the left table even if there is no corresponding record in the table on the right.
A right out join returns all of the records from the right table even is there is no corresponding record in the table on the left.
thank you, that simplifies things a bit.
