    Unanswered: sp_changegroup

    Hi All,

sp_changegruoup could be used for changing group assigments.
Documentations says that a user with SSO, DBO or SA role can use this procedure.

If i do a ' grant execute on sp_changegroup to user ' , will the user be able to change groups without having any of the SSO, DBO or SA roles for him ?

    TIA.

No, granting execute on this stored procedure to user won't allow changing group. You need to grant DBO, SSO or SA role to user to be able to allow to change group. Remember that if you grant DBO, SSO or SA role to a user then he/she will be allowed to do many more things than just changing groups, be careful before granting these roles.

I am sorry, I mentoined DBO as a role. The point I was trying to make is make an user DBO or grant SA or SSO role to allow changing groups.
