Unanswered: Workaround for multiple outer join in a table

    Hi,
I need to put a outer join from one table to two other tables based on two columns in the source table. But i am endup with the message " ORA-01417: a table may be outer joined to atmost one other table ".

Is there any workaround to handle this situation ???

    regards,
    avr

well i think that the error is quite clear but i you try to do
first one of the outer join in one query and after this the results with
the same table again another outer join with other column.
    maybe it could be.

Hi ...Thanks for the suggestion. But i cannt separate like that.

My First table (source) table contains...

    Customer Number
    Date
    Count

Which contains count for some of the customer Numbers for some of the dates. Basically i need to get for all the customers and all dates (continuous) between two dates. But the list of customer number is in another table and i have created one table with one row which has the dates (continuous) .

I think now you can get the exact issue of breaking the same...

    Do u have anymore idea??

    regards,

AHHH the typical and annoying Oracle problem of outer joining a table multiple times....

I just recently had to program something with this same requirement...took me forever. The best way to do it is to use an inline view to accomplish this.

Check out the article at OTN:

Read the post by user 21121

If the link doesnt work, go search the SQL/PL SQL forum at OTN and search for join to two other tables. It should be the first result.

Good luck! This is a great workaround if you get it working.
