    Exclamation Unanswered: Very slow indexing!!!

    Hi,

First, we had loaded some 10 GB of documents into Oracle. Next we created an full text search index on this data.

After this we loaded 8 GB of more data and then used the

    ALTER INDEX MY_INDEX REBUILD PARAMETERS('resume')

    command.

I understand that this command will index the additional 8 GB of data, correct?

The issue is that it seems to be taking very very long

Yesterday afternoon (3:00pm) we used the select * from ctx_user_indexes and from that found that IDX_DOCID_COUNT was showing a value of 140609

Today morning (11:00am) we used the same sql and found that the IDX_DOCID_COUNT has moved up to 140649 - i.e. just 40 additional documents - and that in 12+ hours - which is very very slow!!!

Any ideas why this should be happening? We still have 20GB free space on the tablespace where the full text search index is created....

Can someone tell me what parameters we should look at to see why it is going so slow??

    Thanks & Regards

I guess this would have had effect if I had executed the command before I started indexing right? Also this is not standard oracle indexes - these are Intermedia Indexes - so not sure if this would work or not
