    Unanswered: Trigger Help

    Hi all,

    Could anyone tell me a possible solution to my problem below, if possible send me some code.

    Im my current job our data entry staff must tick a field on the data entry screen so that the page does not get a status of RECEIVED, which is bad for us.

    Is there any way to have a trigger to automatically put a key stroke in a variable on the screen automatically once the data entry screen opens.

    The database version is called Oracle Clinical 4.0.3 which i think is 4i

    I dont have any experience in writting trigger so if someone sould possibly write this code it would be fantastic.

    Thanks in advance.

    Colm

    Assuming this is a Forms application use the
    WHEN-NEW-RECORD-INSTANCE trigger. In it put

    IF yourblock.yourfield IS NULL THEN
    yourblock.yourfield := 'yourtick mark';
    END IF;

    Everytime a new record is accessed and yourfield is blank (I assume that means it is a new record) fill it.
