You mean , you want access DB from remote server /location.

for that you need to catalog DB at remote site ( where you want access DB)

if DB server & DB is DB2 UDB

db2 catalog tcpip node NODENAME remote REMOTEDBSERVERHOST server portnumberservicesNAME

db2 catalog db DBANAME at node NODENAME

    db2 teminate

test your connectivity , by using following command

db2 connect to DBNAME user userID using passwd

    Example

db2 connect to wsdwhdb user db2admin using db2admin

    Database Connection Information

    Database server = DB2/NT 8.1.4
    SQL authorization ID = DB2ADMIN
    Local database alias = WSDWHDB

note : NODENAME is generally instancename
REMOTEDBSERVERHOST : where you DB server located , that hostname

portnumberservicesNAME : is your port number

you get it by ( is it is unix/linux)

db2 get dbm cfg | grep SVCENAME

    or

    more /etc/services | grep instancename

let me know , if any questions

    Thank You
