    Unanswered: How to view settings?

How do you view the things that are set using ALTER?

For instance I want to use SQL*Plus to find the value for NLS_DATE_FORMAT

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply.

I tried that command. It gives me an error that says table or view does not exist.

Is there something that I am missing?

    Thanks again,

Actually if u r looking for the parameters of the DB then u should check it out from the Init<sid>.ora which can be opened in text mode.
From sqlplus u can view it using the command that has been already given to u in the above update.

In 9i there is a concept of spfile<sid>.ora which is binary file and allows us to change certain settings dynamically ie without shutting down the instance.
