    Unanswered: flat file structure

    hi guys can anyone help me


    i have bioinformatics databse in flat file structre

    i wanna import that in oracle 9i .

    how can id do that
    i mean how will i convert flat file strucute databse to relational databse

    I feel you have to use sql loader to perform this operation.

    Oracle 9i now allows flat files to be loaded as external tables...you can write a quick PL/SQL script to load the file into a table which can be directly queried...

    SQL Loader is the old school way to load data into Oracle - Since you are lucky to be on 9i use the tools it gives you to do this

    Check out the documentation or asktom.oracle.com - I know they are covered in both of these.
