    Unanswered: license expire

I have a trial copy of db2 v8.1 at home which will expire soon. How can I extend this trial license?

If I were to reinstall the trial copy again, what are the steps needed to secure/save my existing db2 instance and databases.
Thanks for your earliest attention. I am new to db2.

    Re: license expire

I suggest you do a backup before you reinstall ...

BTW, if you are using a PC at home , I assume you will not be needing remote access to the database ... Then you can go for Personal Edition, which never expires ...

You can download PE from the IBM website ... PE is also available on Linux

    Cheers

You should backup the entire database(s). You will have to reinstall DB2 and then do an add/restore database.

Some trial software will not let you uninstall and resinstall the product again (especially on Windows) where they keep files around somewhere about previous trials. I don't know about DB2.

Thanks. I am using Linux at home. I guess I have no other choice except to reinstall the software again.
