    Unanswered: Delphi 7 DBExpress

I got stuck in moving several Delphi 7 BDE applications to ADO and so I am trying DBExpress. I used a TSQL Connection and a TSQLQuery in a simple program but I get this error after the query is activated in the code:

'Operation not allowed on a unidirectional dataset.'

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi,

I can't help you with ADO or DBX but if you are beginning to port old apps, I can highly recommend DOA from www.allroundautomations.com

Please don't email me directly with questions. I've probably just got home from the pub and cannot guarantee the sanity of my answers. In fact, I can't believe I actually made it home.

I got this problem when attempting to use a DBGrid. Switching to DBText controls is a way to get around this problem. There must be some incompatibility with unidirectional datasets.

hi, your problem with dbexpress is that must put a TSQLProvider, TClientDataset and TDataSource. with these components your SQL sentences will work fine.
