Unanswered: how do I update $ORACLE_SID?

    hello,

I've creted another instance in my oracle db on linux. but if I do a echo $ORACLE_SID it still pointing to the old SID. I want it to point to the new one.

I've modified many files to update my old name to my new one. So my question is:

    1) What exactly file do I need to modify in order to be able to reboot my linux box (redhat) and get the new SID?

    2) if I use setenv, I have to change to tcsh, but I do not want that. I want the behaviour of starting linux with the new SID.

    thanks
