Unanswered: Getting a connection to SQLServer takes forever..
Have a JRun 3.1 app server on Windows 2000 Server running around 30 server instances in our DMZ and trying to connect to SQLServer 2000 inside the network. If I try to connect to a database that is running on Windows NT Server SP3 then the connection takes about 70 msec but if I try to connect to the database that is running on Windows 2000 Server SP2 then it takes close to 4.5 secs. If I try to connect to the same database from my win 2000 workstation within the network it takes 70msec. The drivers are jdbc type4 from Microsoft. (I have tried DataDirect drivers. I admit the execution of SQL statements is much better but connection time is still high). I know connection pooling or moving the app server inside the network helps but I am more interested in finding the cause of the problem.
So if anyone out there have experienced something similar & is interested please let me know. I am willing to experiment.
