Question Unanswered: How to connect to Oracle database on UNIX from Windows

    Hi all,

I'm working on a project which the client is on windows platform but the database server is Oracle 9 on UNIX.

Are there any means for me to connect to the database?
via ODBC in windows? or what do i need to do so?

I would very much appreciate it if you could possibly explain it

    10x in advance

I think installing Oracle client s/w on ur client m/c and configuring entries in TNsnames.ora through sql net easy config is sufficient enough.

    Good luck

connecting to Oracle on UNIX is no different than connecting to Oracle on any other platform... Oracle is pretty much Oracle, no matter what platform you run it on... from the client perspective it's simply a service listening on a certain port at a certain IP address...

you just need to install and configure the client and set up your ODBC data sources
