    Unanswered: Where do I start?

    First off, I am a newb to db's and manipulation. I have a little php experience, and a whole lot of html and web experience. What I want to do is organize my media (videos, images, and sound files), so that when a link to a video is clicked it opens an html page with the video embedded within.

    How do I set this up so that I can just upload the media files to a directory, and then place a link on a media link page that will open the page with the embed?

    Thanks for anyone with the time and patience to point me in the right direction.

    hmm if im understanding what your saying, you dont even need a database.

    Create a page called something like media.php and pop something like this into it:
    Code:
    <html>

    File Name: <?=$name?><br>
    Size: <?=$size?><br><br>

    <!-- THIS IS PROBABLY THE WRONG WAY TO EMBED BUT YOU GET THE IDEA -->
    <embed src="<?=$path?>">

    </html>
    then you can have your link page and place links on it like this:
    <a href="media.php?name=Video&size=23mb&path=media/video.wmv">Video</a>

    Using that link the media page would output something like this:
    Code:
    <html>

    File Name: Video<br>
    Size: 23mb<br><br>

    <!-- THIS IS PROBABLY THE WRONG WAY TO EMBED BUT YOU GET THE IDEA, CUZ I CANT THINK RIGHT NOW -->
    <embed src="media/video.wmv">

    </html>
    Another way would be to insert that into the db and just have links like <a href="media.php?id=1">Video</a>

    That way you could select the row with the id of one. You prolly dont understand what Im saying but if you want to do it this way just let me know.
