Unanswered: copy excel data to table using PL/SQL

    Hi,
Does oracle provides a package which can be used to load data from an excel file to the oracle table. I cant use SQLLoader for this and have to use PL/SQL only.

    Thanks.

I think the best way to do this is to save it as a fixed width file in excel. Then use the UTL_FILE package to read the file in, and use substrings to split the lines into your records.

UTL_FILE can only read files off of the server, so if you cant place the file on the server, you cannot use this package.

TEXT_IO would be the client side UTL_FILE if you are using forms or reports.
