    Question Unanswered: Partitioning in Oracle

    Hi,

    I am stuck in the following scenario,

    1). I need to create partitions in 2 (similar) tables based on a particular column value.
    2). I should be able to swap (exchange) partitions in these 2 tables.

    I am looking into the various partitions available in oracle and would appreciate if anyone with experience in this can give me some pointers.

    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for your reply,

    Let me be more specific,

    1). I have 2 tables which are partitioned (by range).
    2). I need to exchange these 2 partitions. Can i do such a thing? If so how?
    3). I know that i can exchange a non-partitioned table and partition of another table, but i dont know whether 2 partitions can be exchanged.

    Please do let me know how to do such a thing.

    Thanks

    Assume that (if i understand your question correctly) we have table T1 with partitions A,B and other two tables T2, T3.
    And you would like this:
    A -> T2
    B -> T3
    Am I rigtht? If yes then my answer is: You can do that.

    Look up alter table in the sql manual on how to exchange partitions between tables.
