    Unanswered: DB2 data types

    Hi all,
    Is there any datatype in DB2 same as "Number" data type in Oracle, which stores decimal numbers as well, and while returning, returns the data as it was entered with out any type casting ?

    eg. A number column in oracle has values 100 and 100.20
    A select statement on this column returns .....

    select a from tabs_a;

    a
    ---------
    100
    100.20

    Data types?

    In DB2 there are fixed point and floating point numbers. Check if 'single precision floating-point' type REAL is what you need.

    Usually accountancy prefers fixed point numbers, but engineer are pretty much happy with floating point.

    Cheers, Bill
