Arrow Unanswered: Start ASE via Dos-prompt

    I'm trying to start a server via a dos-box, using the sqlsrvr-command.
So far, so good, the server is starting, I can use it the normal way.

I cannot close the dos-box though. When I do so, the server stopt, displaying
    Code:
00:00000:00000:2004/03/15 11:01:38.40 kernel kisignal: SQL Server terminated by window closure.
    00:00000:00000:2004/03/15 11:01:38.42 kernel ueshutdown: exiting
00:00000:00000:2004/03/15 11:01:38.42 kernel shutdown waiting for engine pid 352 to exit...
00:00000:00000:2004/03/15 11:01:38.43 kernel engine pid 352 exit completed
00:00000:00000:2004/03/15 11:01:38.43 kernel Abnormal exit detected - SQL Server process level execution bindings will be cleared on startup.
00:00000:00000:2004/03/15 11:01:56.53 kernel Warning: There is no valid license for ASE server product. Server is booting with all the option features disabled.
00:00000:00000:2004/03/15 11:01:56.54 kernel Using config area from primary master device.
00:00000:00000:2004/03/15 11:01:56.56 kernel Warning: Using default file 'd:\sybase12_5\server.cfg' since a configuration file was not specified. Specify a configuration file name in the RUNSERVER file to avoid this message.
    00:00000:00000:2004/03/15 11:01:56.70 kernel Using 100000 file descriptors.
How do I fix this? I need/want to be able to start a server using a dos-batchfile, if possible.

    Try this:
    net start ServiceName
    ps
This is work with Oracle. I think Sybase must undestud this too
    pps
If u want stop Service u must use "net stop"

Your errorlog is a mix of shutdown and start...

    Stop your server
    Rename your errorlog
Restart your server, using net start or RUN_server file
    Provide us the new errorlog

I think that's what I've been doing wrong. The net start-command totally slipped my mind.
I just tried it, and it worked. Thank you very much, both of you .
