There are lot of resources available over web to know about MSSQL Server.

Firstly books online for syntax and other information.
http://www.microsoft.com/sql - MSSQL homepage to get evaluation edition for hands-on practice.
http://www.w3schools.com - for tutorial based web link.
    http://sql-free-notes-or-tutorials.thecycles.com/ - tutorials.
http://www.codeproject.com/database/ - source code and tutorials.
http://www.sqlteam.com - for all kinds of information.
http://www.sql-server-performance.com for tips and tricks in SQL.

Above all buy a book such as Unleashed series from Techmedia or this http://vyaskn.tripod.com/sql_server_...oracle_dba.htm for Oracleees.

And more training is available from institutes in chennai such as NIIT, SSI etc.

    Re: SQLServer website

SQL Server Books Online, commonly referred to as BOL and a copy of Inside SQL Server 2000 will surely get you started in the right direction.
