Unanswered: Connecting one instance to another

Please forgive me if this seems trivial. I'm an Oracle DBA that's still learning in DB2.

I have two different instances on the same box. I have a couple tables/views from instance1 that I would like to be able to read from instance 2. In Oracle, we can create database links for this. How do you do this in DB2???

I've heard the term Federated database, but not sure if that's what I need.

Any pointers on where to head with this are greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!
