Unanswered: Calculating a field in a table

I have table with a field called meters and a field called feet. I have values for the meters field but the feet field is blank. I need to populate this field with the calculated feet....

I wrote a quick function call CalcFeet() that has the formula for the conversion but how can i call this to populate that feild? I tried putting it in the Default Property for the Feet field but it says it is an unknown function, so i guess you can only use built in function in that property.
I don't want to have to run a query every time their are new records. Any suggetsions pointers ect are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

What are you using to insert records into the table? If you're using a form you could call your function after meters has been entered. Otherwise, why not calculate feet in the form or report that you'll be using later?
