Unanswered: Actual vs. estimated io cost

    Hi,

I want to find out the Actual and estimated io costs of a query.

What does the below command return (Actual or estimated io costs?):
    set statistics io on

    TIA,
    Sankar

    Actual vs. estimated io cost

Sometimes, in the output, I get it as estimated io cost. Any idea why it is so?

    TIA,
    Sankar

set showplan on will give you the estimated IO and statistics IO will give you the actual costs. Is the showplan also on when you run the query?

Could you provide an example? Perhaps there is an active trace flag on that is sending estimated IO to you.

Set statistics IO output shows only actual IO counts.
