Unanswered: Dabase creation on partitioned instance

    Hi,

We have installed a 2 node database instance partition using 8.1
    For creating a database :

    1. Do we need to create the database on NFS filesystem or local File syatem of primary node?

    2. In case we create database on local file system of any node, will the database be still partitioned or not?

    3. Once we create the database on NFS or on local file system, during any tablespace creation ...do we need to create it on NFS?
Meaning how do I make sure that this tablespace is partitioned and will hold partitioned tables in it?

    Thanks in advance

Yes, the user that will manage the database should be created on a filesystem that will be mounted to the 2nd instance. Don't NFS mount that file system to the first one, or it will affect performace.

    2. In case we create database on local file system of any node, will the database be still partitioned or not?
Yes when you issue the create database command it will look at the db2nodes.cfg file and create a db on each of the nodes, with the first one in that list the coordicnator

    3. Once we create the database on NFS or on local file system, during any tablespace creation ...do we need to create it on NFS?

When you create the tablespace you will tell it what partition it will go on, you will need to assign it to a partition group which would be defined to the parititons. You would then need to run the create tablespace telling it which containers go to which partition.

    Thanks in advance
