    Unhappy Unanswered: Test connection failed error

    Hey guys please help me.

    I am a beginer in the world of database and I am having a problem while connecting oracle and vb

    My problem is that I get a message box saying

    "Test connection failed because of error in initializing provider.
    Oracle client and networking components are not found.These components are supplied by oracle corporation and are the part of Oracle version 7.3.3 or later client software installation
    Provider is unable to function until these components are installed."

    You may not have the client ODBC driver installed. When you provide a connection string to connect to the database, you reference a driver, but this error could be due to the driver not being installed.

    I have installed the drivers;
    The driver is visible in the ODBC menu.

    Maybe you should visit the Oracle site and see if there are any downloadable updates to the ODBC driver.

    Are you sure you're referencing the driver correctly in your connection strings though?
