    Unanswered: Required data entry

    I have a entry form for data input from a combo selection box. I have the required entry boxes set to yes in the table. I keep getting that crazy null message when trying to close the form because all the boxes has not been completed, I am aware of this.

    What I asking please, is there a way to remove that message and set the form to display a message I write to include all the boxes from the form not the table.

    I tried;
    Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
    DoCmd.SetWarnings False
    End Sub

    I still get the error message. Any advice?

    the function isnull(TextControlName) will return true or false
    in the before Insert or before Update events would be a place to check validation and cancel the update/insert if the values are not there.

    If isnull(firstcontrolName) then
    msgbox "Your msg - must have this value"
    cancel = true
    exit sub

    This will check for a null value in a control, message user and cancel update. However all changes will be lost if the form closes withou user entering in the required fields.

    Great, that worked but I have a micro behind the form and I get that crazy halt message using macros.

    Is there a way to stop this?
