    Unanswered: Moving an instance?

    On Solaris 2.8

    DB21085I Instance "db2wps50" uses "32" bits and DB2 code release "SQL08013"
    with level identifier "02040106".
    Informational tokens are "DB2 v8.1.0.24", "s030728", "U488482", and FixPak "3".
    Product is installed at "/opt/IBM/db2/V8.1".

The instance(s) were created under /export/home. We would like to
them to a separate filesystem. Is it as simple as shutting the instance
down and using mv? The databases for the instance are already on
a dedicated filesystem so it's just the binaries etc.

    TIA

I don't think, you can simply move instance by moving instances files to different location. DB2 keeps node,db directory in binary format and it may have some specific information related to instance home directory.

    Best option is to

    Backup database.
    Drop instance
    Create instance
    Restore database

db2iupdt is used to update instances after fixpack installation.

it can not be used for moving instance.
