is there anyone can tell me how can i dump a database from a PostgreSQL server?
let say im connecting to host 126.96.36.199 with the data marter_data. what i want to do is dump this data to my local machine so i will not dammage the server data. what command should i use or howw can i accomplish that?
BTW my /usr/local/pgsql/data was i set to initdb..
im running RH7.3 and PostgreSQL7.3.2
any suggestion will great appreciated. thaks you so much.

u can dump a database with pg_dump.

i try this and ggot some warning/error:
[neo@trinity neo]$ pg_dump -a -C -h 188.8.131.52 -U neo polmap_akbayan > pol_ak_copy.out
[neo@trinity neo]$ psql -d test -f pol_ak_copy.out
psqlol_ak_copy.out:5: \connect: FATAL: user "dbadmin" does not exist
what thats should mean? what ii have to do to solve it?
