    Unanswered: how to track down the usage of the tables

    Hi

    In my database every programmer creates his own table and forgets dropping the table.

    I have very much difficulty in manual search of the tables like suspected table or diffrent names tables with 1 or 2 or 3 as suffix like these

    I want to track down the usage of the table
    like the last time it was used
    the number of rows beng used in the table or
    the % of rows being used in the table

    I foremost concern is that i need to drop down all the unwanted tables that or not being used.

    Thanks for any help I get

    Before version 12.5.1 => use the Sybase audit
    Since 12.5.1 => use the MON tables

    By usage, you mean access to a table or data inserted in a table?

    G'day Kapil(is that the crickter??)

    The monitoring tables are certainly one-way of looking at things. Sybase offered free training on installing and using MDA couple of weeks back. Without the training it is bit of a rocket science for starters.

    Rather you can use DB Expert tool which provides similar monitoring ability using theMDA tables in the background.

    There was a webcast done few weeks back. I think this is the same link;
    http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1023647

    I don't think there is any replay available for free unless there are new dates for another LIVE session.
