Question Unanswered: Setting the default value of a field?

    Hello!

I'm trying to set the default value of a field to the value of anther field in the same table. In this case I want to basically copy the value of the Primary Key (an autonum) to another field... It seems like this should be a simple thing to do, but I haven’t worked with access much, so I'm stuck.

I know how to set the default value in design mode, but I can't seem to find an expression that will reference the value of another field.

Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance!

You can do this in an update query. Create a query with the table that contains the two fields. Select Update Query. In the column of the field you want to make the same as the autonumbered field enter the field name of that autonumbered field in square brackets [] in the Update To row.

    Exclamation

Why would you want the default value the same in 2 fields?

If you are entering data through a form you can use the "Me" feature through a query.

    Me!ContactName = Me!RContact
    Me!ContactPhone = Me!RContactPhone
    Gotta to do some code
