Unanswered: How to reduce the Database Size ?

    Hello All,

In Sybase the database size was 12 MB,

About 1,00,0,00 (100 thousand) records were inserted in xyz table.

The database size increased to about 20 MB .

The xyz table was dropped from the database.

Even after dropping the table. the size of database remains at 20 MB and has not reduced. Ideally it should have reduced to 12 mb.

Can somebody help me by giving a solution to reduce the database size.

    Please help ASAP.

    Thanks in anticipation.

    Version Details:
Sybase SQL anywhere ISQL & SQL central version : 5.0.03 Build #884

    Thanks & Regards
    Debu Ray

There is no apparent way to reduce the db size, you need to bcp out all
the tables , drop the database , create new database with desired reduced size and create objects and bcp in the data

Use REBUILD with -ar, this will UNLOAD AND RELOAD into a new db file. This process also defrags the db pages.
