    Unanswered: Reserved error (-1517)

    Hi,
I'm trying to append data to an external data table and I'm getting this error. I've managed to track it down to 1 particular filed thats causing the problem. I've tried doing a append using the same table but this time to a table in the same database and it does not cause this error.
The field in question is a memo field

    Any ideas?

    Regards
    John

How are you trying to do this? What method are you trying to use?

    Hi Mike,
I'm just using a simple append query to the linked table.

    Regards
    John

Sorry Mike I don't know what ADO or DAO is, I take it QBE is "query by example"?

You say that you're using a "simple append query" ... How? Example?

Generally speaking (my experience), memo fields need to saved/updated using some sort of recordset ... You do this via the AppendChunk method.
