    Question Unanswered: sql query for Database Manager Configuration

    Hi all,

    i am using DB2 V8 on Windows 2000 (no fixpacks yet).
    As you probably all know, V8 provides a possibility to retrieve snapshot data using adequate SQL queries. Example:

    select * from table(snapshot_appl('sample',-1)) as appl;

    Now what I'd like to know: is that possible to get Database Manager Configuration the similar way? I looked up in SQL Reference Vol 1 and
    System Monitor Guide and Reference and unfortunately I couldn't find anything about my problem there.
    So maybe you can help.

    Thanks in advance

    Andy

    Andy,
    My SQL Reference for V8 has a function SNAPSHOT_DBM
    (page 521) that should fit your needs.

    Hi Andy,

    thanks for your reply! You're right about SNAPSHOT_DBM. Unfortunately it is not the same as DBM Configuration. For example: I'm looking for the value MAXAGENTS and when I issue the command

    get database manager configuration

    in the CLP, I get a snapshotlike table where I can find MAXAGENTS.

    But if i issue

    select * from table(snapshot_dbm(-1)) as dbm;

    I get no entry with MAXAGENTS.

    Maybe there is no way to access dbm cfg using SQL...

    Thank you anyway.

    I don't think there is a way to do that currently ...

    But, it is a 'nice to have' ...

    In general , an application may not want to know the dbm parms ... But, if yours does, then you can write a udf ....
