    Unanswered: date functions in Excel

    I'm wondring if anyone knows of a way or a function a user can enter into an Excel worksheet that will return the current date but will not update automatically every time the file is opened? I've thought of a few ways to accompolish this but nothing that isn't mostly manual.

    Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

    CTRL + ;

    Or I use this VBA code and assign to a button on toolbar for one-click use:

    Code:
    Sub CopyToday()
        ActiveCell.Value = Format(Date, "Short Date")
    End Sub
