    Unanswered: Cannot Connect

    Hi Group,
I get the following error when I try to connect to SQL Server 7.0 (Beta Version) from my ASP page. I'm using this for testing purposes.

    Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (0x80004005)
[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
    /CheckLogin.asp, line 27

    Line 27 in CheckLogin.asp isbjConn.Open strSecurity
    Here is my connection string:
strSecurity = "DSN=Operations" This is in an .inc file.

    Am I missing something?
I've tested the DSN connection and it is OK. I am using TCP/IP as opposed to named pipes.

    TIA

    Talking Re: Cannot Connect

you should be using the script as follows

    objConn.ConnectionString = str...
    objConn.Open
Then mak esure the DSN exists as a database user

DSN is not a database user. It stands for Data Source Name.

That is not what I meant. What ever the DSN is, it has password and userid. This userID must be mapped to the database.
    example :
let us say dsn = connectme
connectme now should have pwd = thisispwd & userid = myuserid.
now, myuserid is user in the database with password thisispwd.
this must exist in the database
