    Unanswered: updating rows

    does anyone know if I can update lots or rows without doing a Procedure,

    I know I can do it seperetly but what is the best way to update simulantaniously??

    I don;t seem to be going anywhere today

    SQL works with lots of rows at once unless you tell it otherwise (in the where clause). This SQL...

    update emp
    set sal = sal*1.1
    where deptno = 10;

    ... gives a 10% raise to every employee in department 10, whether there is 1 person or 2000 people in that department.

    If you are going to update a lot of rows, set your transaction to use a LARGE rollback segment also ...

    Pctfree and Pctused parameter of that table should also be taken into consideration.
