I have an 188.8.131.52 instance running on an NT workstation that I can ping and SQL*Plus onto. However I have a third-party webapp that uses datadirect JDBC drivers. The app has a small Java db config tool that allows you to config and test (i.e. tries to connect) to your databases. When I try to test the connection I get an 12560 TNS: Protocol Error. I have tested the same drivers talking to an 9i instance and all is fine.
Does this mean...
The JDBC drivers aren't compatible with the older version of Oracle?
That I've missed something out on my 8 database or client configuration?
BTW I can connect to the database via ODBC in the meantime but will I be suffering performance wise?
