Unanswered: Help with multiple values in a single field

I am designing a database for a college project and have come across a problem. My database is for Comic books and I want to include the characters that appear in the comic book. However, some books have 1 or 2 characters others have 5 or 6. Is there a way to put multiple values into one field without creating a new record for each character?

Not really, You can put a lot in as a string, but then you will have trouble separating them.

If your trying to create a database of comic book characters why dont you have a character table and a comic book table and link them together?

    Comic_id
    Character_id
    issue
    condition
    pages
    field5
    field6 etc.

    Then have a character table

    Character_id
    Name
    Powers
    Field1
    Field2 Etc.

    So you have a 1(comic) to many(Characters).

All you have to do then is build a small form or report to display all the characters in any given comic.

If you mean something else by having more than 1 value in a field please elaborate.
