Unanswered: Totals - Few Small Problems

    Hello,

This seems a kinda active place.

The Problem i have is that i wish to create a order form in access 2000. i have got the tables setup etc. but i need to work out the grand total from the line totals. this then needs to be printed on a report ( naturaly )

how would i go about getting a box on the main form to add the values in the line total column.

Probly very simple but i have been working at it for days now and not managed it.

    any help will be appreciated.

    thanks,

    Jim

thanks for fast reply, should this work for forms? I have put this into it and its says #error

    =Sum([Forms]![frmSubnew]![nlinetot])

the "nlinetot" column has a control src of, " =[Quantity]*[Unit Price] "

if you need more info than that of above let me know.

    thanks.

To get it to work in the forms footer you may need to hide the sum in the detail section in a txtboxSum, then in the form footer refer to that value. ie txtFooterTotal = txtboxSum

Check out the attachment. There you will see in the detail section a text box called ctTotal which is invisible (in the detail section). It is also the result of the text box to the right of Label "Grand Total".

The image is ok, click with your right mouse button on the link and save it to disk, then double-click on the downloaded graphics file.

    Hey Jimster,

It would be a BIG help if you could Zip and Post a sample of your database to better help you. But seems so far that you have two Fields....[Quantity] and [UnitPrice]
In your FormFooter as well as ReportFooter, create a TextBox and set it's ControlSource on the DataTab to this:

    =Sum([Quantity]*[UnitPrice])

But also for the Detail sections you should already have a LineTotals:
    =[Quantity]*[UnitPrice]

That's what I have on all my forms and reports. See if that works.
