Question Unanswered: Advice on database structure

    Hello database gurus!

I searched the forums here and haven't quite found the answer to my question. Here it goes...

I am learning Access, but I still have so many questions. I will try to keep this short and sweet.

I have an app that I am connecting to a very simple Access database. The app will have people select 22 multiple choice questions. The database includes a single table with typical form field information as well as fields for the 22 categories.

The thing is this... I have the questions but do not have the answers yet. Ultimately what I want to happen is to set the query up so that those with the most correct answers will be listed.

I figured the query would be criteria based... in other words type in all the correct answers and see who comes up. If no one has 22 then check 21 etc.

How would I set this up? Obviously I would need some kind of point system in order to find who had the most correct.

If what I wrote above is confusing I would be happy to expand on it.

Thanks in advance for anyones help.

    Wink Yes/No

    Hi.

You obviously talking Yes/No question here!
….and I guess you have the answer!

You build this up with minimum two tables (Questions and Answers) and a query.
I'll send you an example if you send me your e-mail address.

    Sincerely

Vestigo... thank you so much for responding... sorry I took a couple of days to reply... I was out of town.

Actually... the questions will be multiple choice. The reason I don't have the answers is because it is an award show and the winners have not been announced yet.

What I am looking to do is have the nominees listed... people pick who they think will win. Obviously their answers get placed in the database.

After the winners are announced... I want to have it so the query goes through and lists those with the most correct answers.

I will go ahead and send you my email... any help you can provide would be very very helpful.

Thanks and sorry for the delay in responding.

    Use option buttons

You might very well use a query even with multiple possible answers.

Q1: How many kilos can an elephant weight?

    Rate the answers like:
    1 10-15 Kg
    2 15-200 Kg
    3 200 - 1000 Kg
    4 1000-10000 Kg
    5 Above 10000 Kg

If the answers should be given directly into the database, use option buttons.

I am definately using radio buttons...

I have no problem getting the data to the database.

My problem is retrieving those records with the most correct.

In other words... I need some way to query it or something to spit out a list of those with the most correct answers.

    Does that make sense?

I appreciate all your input Vestigo.

Anyone know if there is a way to do this with ASP pages?

I received your email... thank you very very much.

I am giving it a good look over to make sure I understand it. I might have one or two questions if that is ok?
