Question Unanswered: 2 root users. Should there only be 1?

When I look at the mysql database in MySQL and SELECT the user, host and password from the user table i get:

    user | host          | password             |
    -----+-----------+--------------------+
    root | localhost     | 6bbcd667dd97db3a  |
    root | %              | 6bbcd667dd97db3a |
    -----+-----------+-----------------------+

Why do I have 2 root users? Do i need both? Should I delete one? If so, which one?

    thanks.....IAN

Both are fine. the one with localhost under host means you can connect from the machine that mysql is installed on.
The other with % under host says you can connect to mysql from any machine as the root user. You can delete that one if you are only working on mysql on your own machine.
