Unanswered: how to run .sql file?

could somebody tell how to run a .sql file at unix prompt?

the .sql file has select statements and spools out.

I wanted to know the syntax at unix prompt ...

    sqlplus -s user/password | @ret.sql ....

something like that .... In my .sql file output will be spooled to out file.

So, at the end, I should see out file in my directory

    Thanks.
