    Unanswered: ORA-03120: two-task conversion routine: integer overflow

    Hi,

    Can anyone help me with the following error I am getting?

    ORA-03120: two-task conversion routine: integer overflow

    My setup is I have Oracle 8.1.7.0.0 Server running on Win2K Server. I have a UTF8 database which I'm trying to connect to from SQL*Plus on Solaris 8 / Oracle 8.1.7.0.0 Client (uid/pwd@sid). I am querying a table with CLOB values using the following SQL:

    SELECT parameterid, name, label, description, value, isretired, editedby, timeedited FROM kc_parameter WHERE name = 'ServiceLevel';

    Table kc_parameter:

    PARAMETERID NUMBER(38)
    NAME VARCHAR2(765)
    LABEL VARCHAR2(765)
    DECRIPTION VARCHAR2(765)
    VALUE CLOB
    ...

    NLS_LANG on both machines is set to UTF8.

    I can query tables that do not contain CLOB columns fine.

    Try this,

    It would appear you are encountering bug 1130746 where this error can be signalled when selecting a CLOB column from an UTF8 database in certain client server configurations, such as NT<->Solaris. The bug is fixed in Oracle9i and included in the 8.1.7.1 patchset release. The 8.1.7.2 patchset release for Solaris is available for download from the Patches option on MetaLink Home.

    Thanks Dina.

    I installed the 8.1.7.4 patchset and it fixed the problem.
