    Cool Unanswered: parameter query problem

What would cause a parameter query not to work when used as a source
on a form? I have two forms that are both based on different
parameter queries. One works when the form is launched (prompts for
the field value) and the other does not. When I launch the problem
query from the query itself it works (prompts for the value), but
when launched from the form, there is no prompt.

    Your advices is greatly appreciated.

I would have to guess that the form has a field, perhaps unbound, with the same name as the parameter. The query is using that parameter instead of asking for the value.

Don't know why but it now works!

Thank you for the response. I don't think that was it. I ended up recreating the form - took some time, but it worked. I still don't know why it wasn't prompting for the parameter, but who knows sometimes in Access. Something was hidden.

    So, thanks again!

Thumbs down Parameter Query not working AGAIN!

Ok, it's doing it again!!! All of a sudden my form is not working. The query that the form is based on prompts for a [Reference Number]. When you run the query by itselft, it works (prompts for the value). If you launch the form that uses that query as the source, there is NO prompt.

It worked this morning, then all of a sudden(!) it doesn't work anymore. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why this is happening? It's very frustrating!!!

    Thank you

    Possible workaround

When the forms loads ask for the paramter with in load form event using an inputbox . Put that parameter in a textbox on your form and then reference the form for the criteria in your query instead of asking for it from within the query.
