    Unanswered: changing shared_pool_size in 9i

    hi Iam trying to change the SHARED_POOL_SIZE parameter dynamically in 9i but the modified value doesnt show up, please see below:

    SQL> alter system set shared_pool_size=117440500 scope=both;

    System altered.

    SQL> show parameter shared_pool_size

    NAME TYPE VALUE
    ------------------------------------ ----------- --------------------
    shared_pool_size big integer 117440512

    Since Oracle 9i the memory is allocated on granules. The bigger the memory pool is, the bigger the granule gets.
