Unanswered: problem when trying to create an Adaptive Server

I installed SYBASE DEV Edition under Slackware (Linux). I tried to create an Adaptive Server (using asecfg). I received the following error messages :

for master and sbsystemprocs, I entred 2 files names (master.dat and xxx.dat).

Do you see the problem ?

i'm not sure ...but you have to increase the kernel memory

    try this :

    echo '512*1024*1024' |bc > /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax

    then restart server

Indeed I changed shmmax as follow :

    shmmax

    536870912

    ------ Shared Memory Limits --------
max number of segments = 4096
max seg size (kbytes) = 524288
max total shared memory (kbytes) = 8388608
min seg size (bytes) = 1

after reboot, I noticed that values were not the same :

    shmmax
    33554432

    ------ Shared Memory Limits --------
max number of segments = 4096
max seg size (kbytes) = 32768
max total shared memory (kbytes) = 8388608
min seg size (bytes) = 1
