I have recently migrated from using MS Access to using MySQL as the back end (Access is still the front end). This brought up an interesting problem:
In Access I could know the primary key (auto-number) my record would get before saving it. Since migrating to MySQL, MySQL takes care of calculating the auto-number, and I dont know it until I save the record.
Is there a way to calculate the key my record would get (and I cant just add 1 to the key of the last record, because the user might have deleted some records that were in between and had greater key numbers) before I save the record?
I would like some ideas both from the MySQL and Access people. Thanx ahead...
